Cindy Jane – Artist Statement and Bio

Artist Statement

My work is inspired by natural processes and the beauty of wild places. I bring to my work a perspective of deep ecology as I express an eco-spiritual and holistic worldview. I want to create work that is either thought provoking, beautiful and/or inspirational. I want it to be affordable and I don’t want to be tied down to any one medium or genre. I have found that working independent of the mainstream art market gives me the necessary freedom that I need. ~ Cindy

Bio

Cindy Jane is an interdisciplinary artist whos work has been shown in galleries throughout Southwest Florida, including a solo show at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center. She is a former member of the Union Artist Studios, and now works from her home studio when in Florida or from her converted cargo van while living on the road.  Cindy is most known for her large scale biomorphic surrealist paintings which have covered such themes as genetic engineering, animal liberation, cosmic discovery, and human adaptation. These paintings were inspired by an interest in the evolutionary processes that take place within cultural, ecological, and socio-political parameters. Since she began living on the road part-time she has begun experimenting with new media and uses inspiration gained from her travels to create works expressive of place and her love for nature.
