New Artwork: “Crossing the Ecotone”

print

Crossing the Ecotone is the first painting to debut in this ongoing series.

The paintings in this, not yet titled, series are intended to be visual interpretations of the ecological issues facing us today. Some delve into the past to reach a better understanding of present reality, while others look to an imagined future. I’ve drawn inspiration from natural systems and the flora and fauna around my home here in Southwest Florida. These paintings are both a celebration of the areas beauty and a warning of its fragility. Despite their ominous undertones the works are an expression of hope with the belief that we will find better ways of doing things and come to recognize our interconnectedness with, and dependence upon, this natural world. Appropriately, this series does not have an expected date of completion.
