Van Build: Floors, Bulkhead, and So Many Wires!

print

The van is coming along nicely! Everything seems to take longer than we anticipate that it will. We’ve been having to learn as we go. Neither of us have ever done a van conversion before, so we end up spending more time researching materials and learning how to do things by reading blogs and watching videos than we do actually getting work done. But I guess that is just how it goes with do-it-yourself projects like this.

Since my last update we installed the vinyl plank flooring and love how it turned out. We also mounted the solar panels and began running the electrical wires. To hook up all the components we first needed to frame out the hub area to hold the batteries. We added furring strips to the ribs that run across the ceiling. These are what the ceiling planks will attach to. We also added a bulkhead wall that divides the cab area from the living area of the van.

Videos of the wiring and solar install will be added soon! Follow my YouTube channel here.

Our next step is to continue with the framing of the loft/closet/garage area, which I designed to be multi-functional. More on that later…. It is almost the new year, and I’m feeling good about the year 2020! Next update will be in January. Happy New Year everyone!
